Cabinet approves distribution of compensation cheques to farmers from May 8
The farmers compensation scheme will be called Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayta Yojana

Delhi cabinet on Friday approved the distribution of cheques under Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayta Yojana to farmers of Delhi from May 8 onwards, whose crop has been destroyed by recent unseasonal rains.
The cabinet, in its meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, also approved the formula for payment of compensation to the farmers.
It has been decided that based on official assessment, farmers whose complete crop has been destroyed will be paid Rs 20,000 per acre. (In cases of crop loss of 70% and above).
In cases where the crop loss will be assessed below 70%, the farmers will get a minimum compensation of Rs 14,000 per acre.
Therefore, the compensation for farmers suffering from crop loss due to unseasonal rains has been divided into two slabs of Rs 20,000 per acre and Rs 14,000 per acre.
It has also been decided that any dispute arising between government officials and farmers on the quantum of crop loss will be resolved in the respective gram Sabha nearest to the land of affected farmers.
The compensation scheme is for farmers and corporate entities owning land in Delhi will not get the benefit of this scheme.
